Hanes Performance Horses has a proud legacy rooted in excellence and a passion for equine performance. Originally known for standing some of the most iconic AQHA stallions—such as Last Detail and An Awesome Mister—the program has evolved under the leadership of Taylor Hanes. Taylor began showing Quarter Horses as a youth competitor in the 1990s and quickly rose through the ranks, later turning professional and showing well-known stallions like Arts Self Portrait, Its All About Blue, and Just Expect It. In 2012, his journey expanded into the world of Gypsy Vanners when June Villa entrusted him with exceptional stallions including Villa Vanners Romeo, Pink Panther, Taskin, and Pompeii. Since shifting focus, Taylor with the support of his husband Charlie, has guided Hanes Performance Horses to extraordinary success within the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society (GVHS) and beyond. To date, he has shown Gypsy Vanners to over 100 National Championships, more than 100 Supreme Titles, and earned 16 five-star evaluations through GVHS. Multiple horses from his program have also achieved GVHS Hall of Fame recognition.
Hanes Performance Horses is truly a family endeavor, originally inspired by the passion of Taylor’s parents, Chuck and Pam Hanes. The Hanes Family proudly co-owns the legendary Gypsy Vanner stallion Blue Peyo, a multi-supreme champion and National Supreme Champion recognized for his exceptional presence. They are also the proud owners of Dreaming of Dakar, a standout stallion with multiple supreme and national titles to his name. Adding to their elite lineup, the Hanes Family owns Just Like Detail, an accomplished AQHA stallion and Reserve Congress Champion in Masters Hunter Under Saddle, sired by the renowned Last Detail. Their commitment to excellence is reflected in the success and quality of every horse they represent.
